DRAFT REVIEW: Beertown Brown
RATING
96

Why can't every brown ale made today be as drinkable as this beer? In fact, if the only thing we were evaluating was how drinkable a beer was, this beer would top our list. A less-pronounced malt profile than there should be and a faintly thing mouthfeel are really the only things holding this beer back. It has a wonderful balance from start to finish, and you can't ask for a more sumptuous aroma. Toasted and fresh-backed bread are the primary flavors in this ale; those, coupled with caramel and molasses, create plenty of complexity. Increasing all the malt flavors and uppping the body to match the moderate hops in the finish would improve this already great brew. This quality is obvious in Beertown Brown, and the final product shows the consideration the employees give to creating well-crafted beer.
