DRAFT REVIEW: Amber Ale
RATING
90

It's surprising that relatively few people know much about this classic Portland brewery and the beer it makes. This beer won a gold medal in its debut year at the Great American Beer Festival and has been turning heads ever since. In 2004, another craft brewery, Pyramid Brewing Company, took notice and decided to buy the brewery. The results have been simply great. The amber ale still has a solid malt aroma with classic Pacific Northwest hops finishing off the nose. As far as taste goes, this is one of the best examples of an American amber ale we've tasted recently, with chocolate, caramel, and bread flavors in the start and some dark fruits in the finish. Get some of this next time you're on the Pacific Coast.
