DRAFT REVIEW: XP Pale Ale
RATING
90

When encountering a pale ale with the letters "XP" on the label you might expect that particular beer to be more bitter than anything else you've tried. If you taste this California ale, you will discover that the "X" in its name doesn't just stand for extra: If is also short for exceptional. This well-balanced pale ale starts with a strong aroma followed by a flavor in which the malt and citrusy hops play an equal role and finish by leaving your tongue feeling rejuvenated. The hops are distinctly American, displaying a piney, almost resinlike character. The body is light; in fact, it is lighter than most APAs and is carbonated very aggressively. All told, it seems these guys got this style just right.
