While this brew is sold under the Ommegang Brewery name, it is actually brewed in Belgium by the Moortgart Brewery. This is the same brewery that crafts the fine Duvel line of brews. True to style, this beer is rich and has a good balance of light and dark malts. You might notice many different flavors (depending on its age), but there are certainly a lot of fruity esters and some clove spiciness. There are also hints of currants and prunes in the mild aroma, but the alcohol flavor is very minor. This is Ommegang's most famous brew for good reason. |
