Sometimes we fall in love with the girl next door, and sometimes we fall in love with a beer. Either way, it's sort of inexplicable. Maybe it's the fermentation method, which includes its first week in oak casks, or maybe it's the natural spring water, which comes from the hills on the Traquair property. We do know that the beer's unique lager yeast first caught our attention but, whatever it is, Traquair House Ale has us swooning. First of all, it's a looker, with a ruby coloring that is brilliantly clear and a creamy tan head. Slightly smoky tones with fruit notes of plum are wonderful in both the aroma and flavor. And, because of the caramelization of the malts, this smooth-but-strong (and, dare we say, sexy) beer will pair well with either dinner or dessert.
