DRAFT REVIEW: Black Hawk Stout
RATING
85

Black Hawk Stout has been on the shelves since 1983 -- longer than most American craft breweries have had their doors open. Black Hawk pours a dark, rich color and emanates a clean, malty aroma with significant chocolate notes. The flavor (a mix of roasted malt and black coffee) finishes slightly crisp and dry, but unfortunately is also astringent and has a somewhat sharp mouthfeel. Without much body to back up the maltiness, the carbonation overwhelms the palate. Still, this is a respectable, classic American stout.
