DRAFT REVIEW: Squatters Barrel of Russians
RATING
87

Aged in High West whiskey barrels for four months, this imperial stout is laced with spicy liquor. A portlike aroma reaches the nose with hints of roasted malts and cinnamon. On the tongue, Barrel of Russians is big, but its base stout takes a back seat to whiskey, which overtakes the beer’s roasted malts and caramel sweetness; touches of coffee and molasses surface mid-sip. A thick finish leaves the booze lingering on the tongue and seals this bottle as a whiskey lover’s beer.
