DRAFT REVIEW: Sky High Rye
RATING
88

Rye spice can be overpowering, but it’s so delicately folded into this pale ale, the grain simply gives the grassy hop and tangerine aroma an appropriate edge and acts as a supporting role in the flavor profile. Peppery notes invigorate a trifecta of grassy, tangerine and juicy grapefruit flavors. Mid-sip, a swell of bread and caramel buoys the brighter flavors before biting bitterness takes over, culminating in an aggressive but still refreshing finish. Although the hop presence seems more in line with an IPA, this rye pale ale is still a great vehicle for the specialty grain.
