Hopworks’ flagship IPA may not have as aggressive a hop presence as other IPAs, but the beer’s balance makes it worth seeking out. A lightly toasted malt aroma swells around grassy, piney hop scents; similar flavors play out on the tongue. Toasted bread notes prop up pine and grassy hops as a thin thread of caramel underscores the swallow with sweetness. A spritz of orange enlivens the sip on the back of the tongue before a rush of bitterness sends this beer to a dry conclusion.
