Your Daily Pint for Friday, June 27, 2014 is: PORTLAND OREGON HONEY BEER
What it is: a sessionable 4.8%-ABV honey beer brewed with white clover honey.
What it tastes like: A slightly floral, honey aroma preludes a big wash of crisp, honey sweetness; bready malts float the flavors across the tongue while peppery hops lend a subtle bite to the sip. A dry, refreshing finish caps of the swallow.
Honey beer? We love a good honey beer, and lots of brewers look to the bees when brewing up batches of beer: From Rogue Ales to the White House.
Craft beer month: That’s right, Oregon devotes an entire month to its craft breweries. Portland Brewing’s kicking off the festivities with a Sunday Afternoon Live Music Series (July 1), and later, celebrating honey at the Oregon Honey Beer Mini Festival (July 19).
Next on the docket: Sip this quaffable beer through summer, and then get ready for Portland’s next release, Noble Scot a 6.5%-ABV Scottish-style ale.
