DRAFT REVIEW: Manly Men Beer Club: Sea Smoke
RATING
85

Sea Smoke glows a dark auburn, while its soft, off-white head clings to the sides of the glass. This smoked barleywine’s bold caramel aroma hovers heavily in the air, lightened only by a whiff of bright, juicy orange. As it warms, fireplace scents rise up from the beer, adding weight to the bouquet. A wash of sweet, sticky caramel seeps into the taste buds while baconlike smoke adds a robust contrast. As the smoke recedes in the back, orange fuses with the caramel for a candied orange sensation. The combination of sweet and savory is intriguing, but cut short as the beer wraps up with a dry, almost chalky finish.
