DRAFT REVIEW: Northstar Imperial Porter
RATING
95

This viscous, ink-black brew’s bouquet fills the nose with beautiful toffee and licorice malt scents grounded by an espresso base. Creamy and smooth, the beer caresses the tongue with chocolate-covered raisin flavors. Delicate, doughy malts quietly sing throughout the swallow, while the chocolate and raisin profile transitions to coffee roastiness in the back of the mouth. Sprightly carbonation washes many of the flavors away, but the aftertaste is still epic: Chocolate-covered raisins hover in the mouth until alcohol warmth dries the tongue.
