DRAFT REVIEW: Loose Cannon
RATING
91

Clipper City makes a big impression with Loose Cannon, a new addition to the brewery’s year-round offerings. The amber, slightly hazy appearance is topped off with a sticky, persistent tan crown. Pungent, citrusy hops dominate the beer’s aroma, sticking to the nostrils with a stiff alcohol note. Deep caramelized malt grabs the tongue initially before hops kick in with grapefruit flavors and bitterness; after the swallow, expect a slightly sweet finish and a lingering peppery hop aftertaste. For a non-imperial IPA, this beer really packs a punch, though its full body and powerful alcohol presence distract slightly from the hop flavors.
