RATING
83
Pouring a hazy, dark straw color with a delicate white head, SAXO unleashes sweet bready malts, citrusy esters, and a wealth of alcohol heat into the nose. On the tongue, perky carbonation dances across the palate, stimulating the taste buds for the initial wash of bready malts. Just as the malts land on the tongue, a wave of alcohol heat, accented by black pepper spice and citrusy sourness, takes over. The sourness and alcohol presence build as the beer moves back, puckering the mouth just as quickly as it dries out. Finishing hot in the chest, SAXO cleanly exits the mouth -- a feat considering the profile leans toward sharper flavors.
