Dark American Lager
ABV: 5.6%
IBU: Unknown
RATING
93
Although it hails from Russia, No. 4 displays all the characteristics of a dark American lager. Pouring a crystal-clear reddish-brown, this brew emits an extremely clean, delicate aroma that's both nutty and caramel-sweet, with a touch of toast bolstering the presence in the nose. Sweetness on the palate suggests this is a malt-forward beer, but a quick, clean rush of spicy hops and hints of acrid peanut skin add a crispness to the medium-light body that makes it both easy to drink, but still more complex than its light lager cousin. The finish is dry, and although there's a lingering hop presence, it doesn't detract from the drinkability that's made this style popular.
