Damnation
Belgian Golden Strong Ale
ABV: 7.75% IBU: 27 |
One of the States’ most celebrated Belgian-inspired brews, Damnation is hazy, donning an orange-yellow color topped with a big, rocky head. Wheat and fresh-cracked pepper plait effortlessly in the bouquet, and a tinge of alcohol tickles the nose. The beer’s potent, and while alcohol is also apparent in the taste, subtle pear and apple notes round out the flavor, and honey accents and a slightly tart finish soften the heat. Hops aren’t the focus here, but their assertive bite and citrusy flavors are brilliant. Damnation impresses the palate with a full body, effervescent carbonation, and a refreshing dry finish. It’s wonderful fresh, but an absolute treat when allowed to mature, dry out, and become even more complex. |
