DRAFT REVIEW: Island red
RATING
91

Island Red is amber and very clear, topped by a sticky, tan head. The aroma is massive, with caramel malt and citrusy, flowery hops, followed by faint earthy and musty scents. The brew’s flavor bursts with deep malt complexity, erupting with strong toasted grains bearing nutty and toffee highlights. Modest pepper hop spice and grapefruit flavors support the beer’s aggressive bitterness that digs into the tongue. It boasts a big body too, with smooth alcohol presence and a clean, dry finish.
