DRAFT REVIEW: Shoals Pale Ale
RATING
90

Legend has it that Edward Teach, better known to history as Blackbeard, abandoned his 15th wife on Smuttynose Island during their honeymoon when he spotted some British naval ships lingering offshore. Two hundred and seventy years later, the brewers at Smuttynose Brewing Company have decided to lend some merrier footnotes to the island's history. Their Shoals Pale Ale is a light amber color ale with strong aromas that mellow to an earthy hop and toasted malt nose. Very earthy and robust in flavor, this brew is nonetheless extremely drinkable due to a surprisingly smooth mouthfeel.
