DRAFT REVIEW: Elephino Double IPA
RATING
88

A showcase of American hop scents, Elephino’s bouquet focuses squarely on resinous pine and bright orange. On the tongue, the beer’s hop flavors kick into high gear and steer the swallow. Vivid candied orange and grapefruit illuminate hints of pine as woodiness emerges in the back; peppery alcohol bobs throughout the sip. Although largely subdued, the beer’s light toast and bread buoy the hops with a creamy mouthfeel. Warming alcohol and aggressive bitterness combine for a decisively dry finish, which leaves a glow in the chest and lingering citrusy hop flavors on the tongue.
