DRAFT REVIEW: Hopshock I.P.A.
RATING
87

HopShock storms the nose with hops—mostly Pacific Northwest notes of smooth pine and vibrant grapefruit—in an intense bouquet that hovers in the air. From sip to swallow, this beer’s assertive: A robust toasted malt backbone paves the way for sharp grapefruit peel and pine, while subtle caramel sweetness helps to initially temper the bitter hop bite. Still, bitterness dominates, culminating in a mus-cular finish that leaves the taste buds tingling.
