DRAFT REVIEW: Sunken Island IPA
RATING
82

Sunken Island beams from the glass with vivid tangerine, candied orange and fresh-cut grass scents; light caramel accentuates the aroma’s sweetness. Similar flavors play out on the tongue—think sweet orange and tangerine washing through bready, caramel-sweet malts—but the beer’s bitterness unhinges the sip. More resinous than biting, a sturdy bitterness weighs down the flavors instead of emphasizing the beer’s potential brightness. Subtle, warm alcohol settles into the back of the throat as bitterness bristles the tongue.
