I stared — and stared and stared — at my Untappd app last night as I attempted to log my Alaskan Pumpkin Porter.

As I watched it attempt to load, I thought to myself that there’s got to be a better way.

Maybe it was the bugs of iOS8 or the note about server maintenance, but it never did work. I went to bed without letting the world know that I had just consumed a delicious 3.5 star seasonal beer. The humanity!

To be fair, Untappd has greatly increased its speed and performance over the last few years. But it can still be frustrating to use and I sometimes go through long stretches of not tracking my beer consumption.

But there’s a new movement to make app usage much, much easier to use.

Think about Uber. You press a button and you get a driver showing up at your door. Boom. The simplicity is key to its popularity.

The massive rise of Uber has inspired countless other apps to strip down the offerings and mimic the one-button experience, culminating an an app that does literally nothing more than send a “Yo” message to your friends.

And now that style has come to beer with the birth of the Beer?! app.

The concept is just like Uber or Yo, but for beer. You send a friend a “Beer?!” message, and if they want to get beer they reply back “Beer?!” Or I guess you could just keep sending “Beer?!” messages back and forth for fun.

Now all we need is a Run?! app to complement it.
