Spiteful Alley Time

BEER NAME

Your Daily Pint for Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 is: SPITEFUL ALLEY TIME

What it is: a 6%-ABV pale ale brewed with Simcoe hops.

What it tastes like: A big wash of hops laces candied orange, pine and dank, pungent hop notes through a sessionable wash of bready malts; a crisp, bitter finish wraps up the sip.

What’s in a name: According to the brewery’s website, Alley Time alludes to a special moment when bike messengers suddenly feel the need to relieve themselves (at least, that’s how we read it). A quick scan of the brewery’s other beers, and it’s clear they have an affinity for bike messengers: 10-9 Bike Messenger Appreciation IPA, Bitter Biker Double IPA and Ghost Bike Pale Ale, to name a few.

Adventures in barrels: We’ve seen beers aged in everything from gin to bourbon to wine barrels, but Spiteful’s recent barrel-aged Klutzy Buffon Saison is a new one. The brewery aged the saison inside absinthe barrels. All hail the green fairy!
