The Beer Runner in Vegas
I’m about to head to Las Vegas with Team Challenge Wisconsin (the team I coach) for a weekend of beer, pasta and half marathon running.
This is also my first time in Vegas that wasn’t just flying through the airport. What are the can’t-miss places for running and beer drinking that I should make sure to check out? I’ll make sure to do a full report of all the places when I’m back.
Red Rocks Canyon. There’s a great network of trails or you can just run on the road. It’s just outside of town and $5 entry, but an oasis of quiet (no neon anywhere!). Here’s a link to a 12 miler I did there last summer http://connect.garmin.com/activity/34561487
there’s a lot of brewpubs in vegas that serve some really good brew: tenaya creek brewery on tenaya and cheyenne, the chicago at rampart and sahara, the draft house on north rancho near 195. along with those there’s the freakin frog on maryland parkway just north of tropicana (15 revolving brews on tap, a thousand or so in bottles, plus a whisky attic), as well as the crown and anchor on tropicana just east of maryland parkway 0 an english pub in the middle of vegas.
