“I’m making an instructional video about how to not run a marathon.”

Jesse Weber explains that to an aid station worker at mile 25 of an ultra marathon—right after he sips a Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Weber filmed himself running through the Antelope Canyon for the 50-mile race, including his mid-race beer break.

The graduate student in environmental science and policy frequently documents his adventures hiking, kayaking and also beer drinking on his website Unwearytraveler.com.

His travels have taken him from the American Southwest to Paris to Kosovo and beyond. But he has never run a marathon, until he decided to nearly double that distance by running through a canyon.

“I’m 20 yards from the finish line and I’m going to die,” he says right before completing his latest adventure.

He crosses the finish, where a spectator sees the beer in his hand, points to it and laughs.

“For real?” she asks.

“The whole race,” he replies.

You can watch his adventure on YouTube, where the video currently has more than 76,000 views.

Why a Miller Lite Was the Best Beer I’ve Ever Had

I’ve worked in craft beer for nearly five years now. I’ve had the fortune to try some truly amazing brews: Pliny the Elder, Heady Topper, Bourbon Barrel Aged Expedition Stout. Supplication? I’ve got one in my mini-fridge. The reason I’m telling you this is because I want to frame my statements here properly. I’ve had good beer, trust me. The best beer I’ve ever had, though, was a Miller Lite.
